Former CIA director John Brennan joined Twitter, and in just his second tweet, he’s already reached nearly 40,000 followers and has 21,000 retweets and 42,000 likes. The tweet:
Trump Admin threat to retaliate against nations that exercise sovereign right in UN to oppose US position on Jerusalem is beyond outrageous. Shows @realDonaldTrump expects blind loyalty and subservience from everyone—qualities usually found in narcissistic, vengeful autocrats.

Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was met with harsh criticism from world leaders. The U.N. even approved a resolution condemning Trump’s actions. In fact, 128 nations voted against the United States:
128 countries voted in favor of the resolution rejecting President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, 9 voted against, 35 abstained.

U.N Ambassador Nikki Haley didn’t respond well. “The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation,” she said Thursday. “We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world’s largest contribution to the United Nations. And we will remember it when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit.”
Brennan’s tweet indicates how hypocritical Haley’s threats are. These nations also have a right to oppose the United States’ position. But Trump and his people don’t seem to understand that “freedom” doesn’t mean “free to follow Trump.”
